Persian cats are as athletic and as agile as any other.
A two-legged (on same side) Persian cat runs around like he had four (almost). Superb balance and agility. This is the story of Caffrey. He is a flat-faced (contemporary) Persian cat. The sort of cat who stays indoors all his life and who is groomed daily and loved perpetually. They are meant to have almost lost the use of their legs because they are so static – or meant to be. Well it ain’t true because the true cat always comes through to surprise us or remind us.

Phew…amazing cat. But all cats are amazing. They have an indomitable spirit and ability to compensate and make do. And it makes no difference if you have a reputation for being a piece of cat furniture as is the case with modern Persian cats.
When push comes to shove the docile flat-faced Persian is as good as the next cat. Caffrey lost his rear left hind leg in a car accident. The amputation cost £3,500.
Ten years later he lost his left foreleg. It had been damaged in the car accident that took his hind leg. It had been repaired but a malignant growth developed on it and the vets were reluctant to operate. The felt he would be unable to walk.
Well the vets forget about cat spirit. His foreleg was amputated. Cost? £4,000. This must have been more than a simple amputation.
Caffrey has to thank his neighbour, Ashleigh Tyler who helped a lot to get Caffrey back to health.
Caffrey needs help but he’s got that cat spirit that is so beautiful and strong. It is almost like he doesn’t know that he has lost two legs on the same side.
