Cute Munchkin, Super Tiger, Lion, Bear Buddies and Sadness

Here are three photos from good old Facebook. They are quite a contrast. The first is a super-cute dwarf cat who appears to be at a cat show on a leash. I am sure he is a Munchkin because Munchkins, the founding dwarf cat look like ordinary random bred cats but with short legs. He is a tabby and white, super-stocky with a cute face.

Next up is that well-known photograph of a lion, a tiger and a bear who have been buddies all their lives.  They were raised together as rescue animals.  This photograph has about 47,000 likes on Facebook. It is therefore extremely popular which tells me that people like to see interspecies friendships just like me.  These sort of photographs allow us a glimpse at how life could be between humans who appear these days to be so often in conflict.

Lastly is a photograph that is not of a cat and there is no reference to any cat either. It is a photograph of a monkey and her baby clinging to her while a person somewhere in Asia holds are above the ground by her arms behind her back which must cause pain but the pain felt by the mother is less than the terrified anguish experienced by her baby.

The caption tells us that they are destined for a laboratory somewhere. I don’t know whether that is true or not but what is almost certainly true is that they are to be exploited by people for financial profit with a complete disregard for the emotions and feelings of sentient creatures. Personally, I’m sick to death of seeing photographs like this. I’m sick of seeing animal abuse in Asia. But it does not just happen in Asia, of course. It happens all over the world. It makes me very sad. Shame on the people doing this.

  1. I’ve never seen the bear and kitties pic before. I like it.
The poor mama monkey and her baby break my heart.

      • Me too Michael. I want to line every animal abuser up against a wall and shoot them one by one.
I don’t have a gun of course and have never even touched one, but in my imagination I could soon learn how to aim and wipe out all the evil people on this earth even if it took the rest of my life to do it.

  2. I am tired of the abuse and the exploitative photos. Dropping bombs with a shocking caption are irresponsible and immature. What do they actually accomplish? It’s just a way to make themselves feel like they are doing something, while not actually doing anything at all. People can feel bad, click Like and move on. It’s a down right shame.

I think that is a Munchkin as well. A real cutie.

I have seen the lion, tiger and bear photos and video several dozen times now. It seems to be a the place our local news go to when they have 20 seconds to fill at the end of the broadcast. It feels like an abuse, rather than a celebration of a beautiful thing.

    Thanks, back to work.

    • Nice points Dan. It is ironic that we love to see the bear, lion and tiger together yet all three are shot for sport hunting and the tiger is mercilessly poached for its body parts. Humans are strange. So I guess you are right. Humans are good at exploiting animals.
