I have been remiss in not keeping up-to-date in running the PoC charitable donations scheme. The reason is that it is a form of “admin” for me and I prefer to do things other than “admin” 😉 It is as simple as that.

I think there are three months worth of comments to add together to work out a donation amount. I have decided to take a broad brush approach (note the pun) and say that the giveaway for the three months is £200, which is inline more or less with previous sums.
Ahsan ul Haq
Using Western Union (which I now understand and trust after a trial run), I have sent £110 to Ahsan in Islamabad, Pakistan to help in his fantastic work caring for feral cats and in his desire to build an enclosure to keep his cats safe.
Note: Ahsan did not request the money. In fact he refused it. I insisted he had it 🙂
The other £100 can be donated this month sometime. I have in mind Walsall Borough Cats Protection. If someone has any other ideas please tell me.
Thanks for your patience. I know a lot people wanted PoC to help Ahsan – me too. The major hurdle was working out the method to get the money safely to Ahsan. The usual methods such as PayPal are unavailable.
Please search using the search box at the top of the site. You are bound to find what you are looking for.
Ahsan and his kitties -Iknow he will use he donation wisely.
We can look forward to a commentary on how he spends it! I hope so.
I like that the donation is going to Ahsan since he will be using to build a safe place for the kitties. I cannot think of a better use of money than keeping your well loved cats safe from harm.
“…I will build the cage so that it could be benefit others to make it at home by themself. I have sufficient knowledge of wood works (Carpenter) which I have learnt from Copen Hagen, Denmark.” said Ahsan ul Haq.
Sorry. Maybe I was too obscure with my pic posts.
Bruce, my apologies. You’re ahead of me. Sorry I missed that. Nice comment.
Michael I am just so excited I really can’t tell you thank you so much it took 6 months of care backwards and forwards to the vets nursing Jinks after each anaesthetic, surgery, xray, just about impossible making sure he didn’t run or jump! but all the work has paid off and he now acts like nothing bad happened to him! he’s very special and so are Cats Protection league Walsall Borough. Thank you so very very much here is Mr Jinks after I just passed on the amazing news!! He’s saying ‘What? Michael is giving CPL some money? that’s great!!’
pretty boy, special one, lovely one forever, thousand kisses from head to tail for him <3 <3 <3
Now all Mr Jinks needs, thanks to you and your CP branch getting him back to full health with all his legs intact, is a wonderful forever home. I hope he has one soon and if I know you, you will soon be fostering another cat in need.
Me too Ruth I’m already smitten with Mr J but although I know it will be the best thing for him it will be so hard letting go 🙁
Wow He’s so Geogerous Love his eyes.
Thanks Kylee he’s a beautiful cat, funny intelligent and a proper lap cat! Just because he’s Black and White though people don’t want to know I wish they could see what we see…. 🙁
Yes it is Sad. I Love all Cat of all Varieties, have a special Things for just Normal Cats and Black and White. They are just so Sleek and their beauty within. Esp Domestic Cats.
I am so happy for you, Ahsan.
You so deserve. Even more so, your kitties deserve.
I can hardly wait to see what you have in mind to build.
The best to you all.
I will share my updates of building outlets for cats very soon
thank you DEE <3
Those are some very lucky kitties!
Not only do they live in a far-away exotic foreign land, they get to stay in a new home, with hand-crafted Danish Modern furniture!
(more “Danish Modern” !)
????????????????????????
Bruce are you advertising your furniture? 😉
Looks like he is. Not the place for it. But the table with the little tunnels for kitties and the cat poking his head through a hole looks fabulous. Bruce should write up an article about his furniture as being uniquely suitable for households with cats. We so often hear the opposite– your cat will scratch the furniture, how to keep cats off the furniture, etc… But that table (or is it a desk?) is made in a way that invites the cat to hang out in and on it. Too bad Bruce kind of rudely spammed this page instead of submitting an article on cat friendly furnishings.
I’d love to sit working at a desk like that with Monty hanging out in it like the cat in the picture. However, we all know that even if you give the cat his own special place to sit he will still prefer on top of your keyboard or in the middle of your book.
A cute table indeed.
My cats would love it.
I agree with Ruth. An article would be good.
Yes, it would be a nice table to work at with your cat underneath.
My name is Ahsan ul Haq
Not
Ashan ul Haq
please correct, thank you all <3 😉
Sorry Ahsan. Every time I type your name I have to remind myself it is Ahsan because in the West the more natural name would be Ashan. It is the “sh” which is common in words and names in the West.
I have corrected it. I like your picture. It might help me 😉
It was one brief lapse of concentration. Damn.
Thank you Michael
This name has been given to me by my FRENCH teacher which I have decided to follow the whole life till my END, I miss her and love her the most. She was catholic and real mother alike to me. I love her <3 <3 <3
1975 photo second row, from left to right the third boy is ME <3
Lightened up a bit:
Thank you Michael, now it look better than before <3
Ah the little Ahsan! What a lovely photo 🙂
So glad that Ahsan has had a contribution to his wonderful work, I’m sure he will use it well to improve the lives of the cats he cares for. Walsall CP sounds good to me for a donation too. Well done Michael and thank you.
Thanks Babz.
Thanks Babz they really are so deserving they do so much for cats
Thank you so much Michael, I saw this post 10 minutes ago when I woke up after having relaxant pill, and I could not wake as an alert person any more so I decided to sleep. In my dreams every where I see my cats, specially those killed with no fear of Allah subhanahu by the people.
I deeply thank you for this great donation and I am sure that I will be able to make a huge cage for LAILA and if any kitten is there who need me. I will spend every peny on the welfare as for myself I need nothing. I will share every receipt of the sum on PoC with the equal rate of dollar which is 1$=100 Rs.
I will show you the output very soon, and also the HOW TO MAKE A CAGE AT HOME tutorial with pics.
May Allah bless you with every thing you have and give you a long life to protect innocent lives on earth. Michael, you are doing the job of saints whom stories were written in books but now a day hardly to see practically <3
If there is a cat saint, it is you. It is a pleasure to help cats in Pakistan through you. We in the West need to look more to the cats of the East.
I thought of Michael yesterday in connection with St. Francis, who loved nature, especially birds and animals. At the Catholic school where I teach they had the blessing of the animals yesterday before Mass. People brought their pets and gathered in the parking lot where the priest blessed them. He concluded the blessing by sprinkling holy water. As the priest was shaking this thing in his hand causing holy water to rain down on the crowd a cat held in a woman’s arms watched him intently, eyes as big as saucers. The priest wisely skipped over the cat to go and sprinkle some dogs behind her who would not mind so much. Later during the worship service the priest reminded the children that pets are not stuffed animals, but living beings who must be cared for. I liked that he encouraged the children not to hurt their pets but to take good care of them. I think Michael would really have enjoyed the whole experience and seeing all the pets there. The children were asking me excitedly after Mass, “Did you see my dog? He was the white one!” and things like that.
Another lovely comment Ruth. I like to read about people in authority in the established religions reinforcing the need to care for animals. We are part of the animal kingdom as far as I am concerned. We are an extension.
That is how St. Francis saw it, I think. He was ahead of his time, and his thinking still influences people today. His “Canticle of the Sun” was written in 1225, but it remains relevant and fresh today. We sang it at the school Mass on Friday.
In music classes I told the kids that the original song dated back to 1225 and that when you write or create something you never know who will be inspired by it, maybe long after you’ve left this world.
A little girl raised her hand and told the class that she found a penny that said 1995 on it and she was just amazed at that because that’s so long ago.
Ok, so nothing I said got through other than that 1225 is a long time ago. Oh, and I’m really getting old. (1995 seems like just yesterday to me.)
St. Francis must have been well ahead of his time. He was ahead of at least half of the population of today’s world.
I’m so pleased that Ahsan is receiving £110 donation, he really deserves help for all that he does for cats. If you had asked for suggestions for the September money Michael I’d have nominated him 100%.
I also think Walsall CP deserve the £100 from last month because that branch spent a huge amount of money on Mr Jinks who Leah has cared for and nursed back to health.
I’m very happy about both these wonderful causes 🙂
Thank you very much Ruth sister <3
Good luck with building your cat run Ahsan. My sister and I and a neighbour built one in her garden a few years back, it was hard work for 3 mature ladies, but fun.
It may not have been perfect but her cats loved it and it kept hem safe!
I look forward to hearing about and seeing pictures of yours 🙂 I’d also like to send a small donation towards it once Michael ensures the money will reach you.
I admire you very much x

Today I have much higher belief than ever on the saying of Mohemmud the prophet(of mine) that at the near end of the WORLD, ROMANS will be the best amongst you in people who will care for the welfare of humanity(not only but also for innocent creatures). in Shai al Muslim book of Hadith.
Sister, when I see all these events coming true , some times I see my own brothers and sisters and some time to the other end and I become afraid and some time cry in my alone timings.
But these tiny fellows give me a way of life. I just take my short small hand note book like INDIANA JONES and survey the area with my wife. I write every aspect of these fellows in the way I can understand they wish from me or anything I can do for them.
It some time s feel me strange when an unknown cat forward to me and I pet her and she just sits touch with me her body with high tail.
People say that this is an ugly, dangerous, dirty and smelly cat but I don’t care. She seems to me my friend, a missing link from many births, I don’t know but I always feel relaxed when their tummy is fill and they lay down on the grounds relaxed.
Now I have a way to neuter the males. And I will do it. The same as Alley cat Allies do. And submit the reports to Poc. thanks and God bless you all there <3
We are all happy to have you around and part of our family. We admire your work.
Ahsan will you vet friend teach you how to neuter your male cats yourself? That will be such a good thing to happen, I will look forward very much to reading your next article.
I will request him Ruth, But I see the population of cats has vanished from my area and only my own cats are with me, they are hidden in between my house, neighbor’s house trees and my daughter is checking after every 15 minutes out in the terrace if we see any dog passing through the street to let him run away and not come into this street.
I will ask surely to teach me neutering the cat. thanks Ruth
Safeguard them, Ahsan.
Maybe your friend will neuter the boys with you present for just a little bit of the money.
I worry most about the girls though, so they don’t have babies.
But, if you can build a shelter, it doesn’t really matter whether girls or boys are neutered. There won’t be any mating. But, girls can get pretty obnoxious when in heat. Believe me. They can turn into…well…you know, my friend.
Thank you Ruth. I am pleased you approve.
Thanks Ruth I’m so pleased for Ahsan and I’m just over the moon about Walsall CPL as well they are just amazing so dedicated and yes you’re right Mr Junks bill has to be around £1500 all told so I’m just so grateful 🙂
I’m so glad you chose Ahsan ul Haq to receive this money, Michael. His posts have been a wonderful addition to PoC and I’m so glad he has become a member of our PoC family. He not only promotes cat welfare through his presence here (we can all learn from his tireless efforts to help cats in Pakistan) but we also are given a window into a world we never knew existed.
Right now there are bad people doing horrible things and from a distance it can start to appear that everyone in the Middle East is of a like mind, bent on terrorism, hatred of the West and Israel, and intolerance of those who do not share their religious beliefs.
But Ahsan ul Haq is a good man. A very good man, who by the life he lives can certainly shame many Christians who do not show their faith in how they live at all. He is the first Muslim I’ve gotten to know (through his writings) and I suspect this is true of many visitors to PoC.
I realize now that Pakistan is a lot like the inner city of Milwaukee, which is riddled with crime, drug dealers, and shootings. Residents of the metro area come to avoid the central city and regard anyone living there as dangerous and likely to try to rob or harm them. But I know from years of teaching school in these “bad” neighborhoods that there are many, good people there trying their best to just live their lives and decrease the suffering going on there if they can. Their faith and courage shame those who have fled to the suburbs for an easier, safer life.
Pakistan is like that too– Ahsan ul Haq has shown me that there, just like here, are good people living the best they can among the bad, striving to make things a little better if they can. Instead of seeing the whole Middle East as a region too filled with problems, I will now think of the people like gentle Ahsan who live there, and pray for them.
Thank you so much Ruth, I am a simple spiritual man and for my self I have no need either for my family from any charity or donation.
All the sum will go for my fellows and I will make the big cage with my own hands so the “labor cost” will not add. Only the material cost with “receipts” will be added to make it. I will share every thing regarding this welfare work on PoC via Pics and videos.
Also the pics and whole map, how I will build the cage so that it could be benefit others to make it at home by themself. I have sufficient knowledge of wood works (Carpenter) which I have learnt from Copen Hagen, Denmark.
I thank you again for the appreciation comments. <3 <3 <3
Agreed what you say about the nature of people.
Don’t EVER refuse money to help your cats! You deserve it and the cats deserve it 🙂
Agreed, Elisa. Both cat and man deserve it. I can’t think of a better cause at the moment. It is good to give to a person in Pakistan. I think cat websites need to look East not just West all the time.
Sorry about spelling your name wrong Ahsan ul Haq. Michael is right– in the West it is far more common to have sh than hs for the order of letters. And I double checked it four times to be sure I would not misspell it!
Ruth, every time I type it I struggle to stop myself misspelling it. Just one of those things. I’ll correct yours.
I think the autocorrect on my phone is doing it! I know I spelled your name right that time Ahsan al Haq! It is probably programmed to put letters in the most commonly seen order!
Well done Ahsan I’m absolutely over the moon that you are to have a share of Michaels £200 your beautiful cats are so deserving and you can keep then safe 🙂
Thanks Ruth. I liked your comment. I too like to learn about the relationship between cats and people in countries which we rarely discuss in the West. There is a lot to do for cat welfare in the East and I like to extend cat topics to new places; places other than the UK and N. America. It widens the discussion and makes us look outwards.
