15-year-old cat whose owner lost everything in Paradise is going to a new forever home

A Paradise, California cat whose owner lost everything in the Camp Fire is set to go to a new forever home. His name is Damn Yellow Cat and he’s definitely living up to his name, according to the good folks at FieldHaven Feline Center.

Damn Yellow Cat is thought to be about 15 years old. His owner, a widower who lost everything when Paradise burned last month, made the tough decision to put his cat up for adoption since he’s living in a travel trailer and doesn’t have a secure outside place for Damn Yellow Cat to roam.

FieldHaven Feline Center thought that because of the ‘cattitude’ this ginger beauty had about not wanting to live indoors would make it difficult to find a new pet parent. The center actually ended up with 12 applicants they felt would make a good match. One lives only a few miles from the facility.

The Center is an innovative cat shelter in Lincoln, California run by staff and volunteers committed to saving lives by keeping cats off the street. In addition to assisting the community with their cat problems, they spay and neuter over 700 cats and place an additional 1,000 cats in homes every year. They are solely supported by donations.

You can follow them on their Facebook page as they prepare to adopt out other cats rescued from the California fires.

Good luck to this senior’s new family as they convince him it’s time to live indoors. Thank you to his kind owner who did what’s best for the cat. We don’t see that very often these days.
