2 dogs cause $3000-worth of damage to car trying to get at a cat under the hood

This is another example of how dogs can cause an inordinate amount of damage to a car. I’ve seen it before in videos. The power of these large, strong dogs is extraordinary. They can do things that human simply can’t when it comes to demolishing cherished objects!

In this instance, it’s been reported that a domestic cat living in Florida escaped a couple of dogs by jumping under the hood of a car to hide within the engine compartment. The dogs appear to have chased the cat there but couldn’t get into the space where the cat was hidden because they’re much larger so they decided to try and eat their way into the engine compartment!

And in doing so they caused $3000-worth of damage. You can see the video where they pull bits of trim off the car and some protective materials under the wheel arch as far as I can tell.

They also damaged the front bumper, front fender and two tyres. Christie Barr thought that somebody had taken a gun and shot her car. She said that nobody would have believed that dogs did this damage until they saw the video.

They don’t know who the dogs belong to and of course animal lovers are concerned about the dogs’ safety as well as the cat’s. Christie Barr had reached out to animal control for their assistance in tracking down the dogs and dealing with them in a way which protects the neighbourhood and themselves.

Comment: the two aspects of the story highlighted are that cats not infrequently, as you know, like to hide within the engine compartment of cars during winter for warmth. This can severely endanger them. And in this instance, it was a nice hiding place for complete protection from large dogs.

And secondly, dogs can severely damage cars which is hard to imagine but it’s happened before.

My thanks to Fox 6 for the story and video. I can’t guarantee that the video will work indefinitely.

  2. These are 2 dogs that have been trained to kill small animals. Hate to say it but their next victim will be a small child.
