Lady is 28-years-of-age, getting on for a record. This is around 10 years older than a good average age for a domestic cat and yet she looks a lot younger than her age. What’s the secret? I am sure Lady is a record breaker of some sort; perhaps the oldest domestic cat in the US state where she lives.
I am sure genes play a major role. Her owner Theresa Kelly puts is down to:
“Good quality food, lots of toys, keep them inside, lots of playing and cuddling. I let my cats sleep with me, even under the blankets.”
As for food, this is what Kelly said:
“She has been eating 9 Lives canned food and Purina Indoor dry food. I got a bag of Blue Buffalo and they liked it too. As soon as I can afford it, I want to get more Blue Buffalo….9 lives canned and Purina Indoor crunchies”
The other photo of Lady shows Kelly’s computer which I remarked looked dusty. This is Kelly’s reply:
“It is usually covered in cat hair!!! I once took it to the PC doctors because of it acting up. When I went to pick it up, the computer guy asked if I had cats. He said it is very easy for the cat hair to get inside and clog the laptops.”
As all of us have the same thoughts of many others on Facebook:
“What’s your secret? To have your buddy around for 28 years is something many of us would wish for our furballs!”
Well, it’ll be a combination of things encompassing genes and excellent caretaking. Of these I’d say that genetic inheritance is the biggest factor in Lady’s longevity but Kelly is an excellent cat guardian and proud that her Lady so much younger than her age which is almost record breaking.
