K9 Global Rescue report on wral.com that an estimated 600 animals have been abandoned at one site off North Carolina Highway 130 in Robeson County.

Rescue organisations stress the importance of taking pets with you when leaving an area before the arrival of a hurricane. It seems that people have ignored the advice. Or perhaps this was a tragedy that was happening all the time and Hurricane Florence exposed it.

This is what animal cruelty investigator Katherine Floyd thinks. She describes it as a ‘casualty in the making”.

Phil of K9 Global Rescue said that he has never seen anything like it in ten years or rescuing animals.
