Terry Lauerman of De Pere, Wisconsin is a 75-year-old cat man who volunteers at a Green Bay pet sanctuary. His ‘job’ is to brush the cats and then fall asleep holding at least one cat.
Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary says they’re very lucky to have a human such as Terry, Safe Haven posted to their Facebook page.
“Terry just came along one day and introduced himself. He said he’d like to brush cats. Eventually, it became every day. He brushes all of the cats and can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days. We don’t mind – cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer.”

Social media has been buzzing about Terry since photos of him napping with the cats went viral. The small non-profit’s website went down for a short time when more than 1,000 visits per second were reported.
Terry’s fans are suggesting he create a cat calendar or to go onto the Ellen Degeneres Show. Terry still can’t believe he’s famous and is asking each person who hears his story to donate $5 to help the kitties. One of his goals in life is to win the lottery so he can help cats.
More than $5,000 was recently raised in a fundraiser and Shopko even donated a recliner. Now Terry can nap in even more comfort and the cats are pleased with the new sleeping spot.
Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary is the first 501(c)3 no-kill, nonprofit cat sanctuary, and adoption center that specializes in rescuing kitties with physical or psychological disabilities. SHPS is 100% cage-free! The perfect place for a senior citizen to spoil cats and take a nap.

That’s going to be my job one day, probably soon. I’m good at it.
What a wonderful gentleman Terry is.
