  1. Yes it would be nice to meet one day but even if we never manage to do so it won’t stop us all from being forever friends and working together for the good of all cats worldwide 🙂

  2. Wonderfully said. We have an amazing collection of great minds and hearts that visit/comment or just visit with regularity. There are many things we all may have a difference of opinion on, but the Woodsman is not one of them. Michael does a lot of great work, as does his site!
    Thanks Ruth!

    • Yes, we are of one mind about the man with sawdust in his head 😉 Thanks for the comment. The site is a joint effort. It really is. In some ways the comments made by the regulars are more important than the posts. Thank you all.

      • I agree that sometimes the comments are more important than the article. When I did Accidental Ways To Kill A Cat the readers added lots of dangers I never even considered. I try to read everything that’s posted but with no pc internet and these tiny letters on the cell phone I don’t comment as often as I want. I’d also like to thank Michael for turning me into a worhaholic insomniac…yes of course I’m still awake. Its only 4am 🙂

        • Yes, a big thank you to Michael for all his hard work on behalf of cats! Because of PoC I have met many friends I would not have known who are on the other side of the world or the other side of the country from me, but they are my friends none the less. I do still hope to get out to SC and meet you, Elisa and your daughter Laura and all your wonderful cats, especially Furby and Sealy.

          • We should all meet up one day. It would be nice wouldn’t it? I’d love to meet you all. Thank you Ruth for your superb comments which are very important to PoC and cat welfare.

    • Thank you, too, Rudolph for sharing your experiences in India. For me these are important and your articles are rare. There aren’t many reporters from India writing about domestic and wild cats.

  3. Yay – great poster Ruth and I totally agree with everything you say. Well done Michael. I’m travelling right now and am in a hotel room somewhere in France but I have to say that no matter what, even if I have no time to comment I always end the day by reading POC. It gives me a feeling of security to know everybody here and I like the little community POC has created. It would be very unusual if I didn’t visit POC in a day. Lately I have had so little time for comments but I am always here and often quite frustrated that I can’t do some more commenting. I have to get up super early tomorrow and I really must must go to bed. I will have to catch up on things over the easter weekend when I have more time. I just had to join in this article to say well done to Michael and to everyone who comments that it’s really nice to know you all and know there are people like you who, like me, see cats as important and wonderful creatures and who spend alot of time caring and thinking and talking about them. I don’t feel so lonely knowing all of you and about your cats too. Great article and poster Ruth. I wonder if Michael really looks like that after this article – all chuffed leaning on his computer 😉 – no – he’s probably in bed with his laptop and Charlie and he should feel very proud to have built something that holds great importance and meaning to all of us and cats.

  4. Thanks Ruth, for the great poster to say thank you to Michael!

And thank you Michael for your unstinting and incredibly hard work, hour in, hour out.

  5. yes thanks Michael for your website I know i dont have a lot to say but i read all your stories as they are interesting and informative you made me remember that I haven’t given my 4 any chicken lately so cooked them a breast today my excuse is that I have been in hospital with a chest infection just starting to feel myself so on the up now !!

  6. Good idea Ruth, and another great poster. Thanks to Michael for this magnificent site from me too, for the time spent finding so many different interesting things on the subject of cats to write articles about, for keeping the site fresh and organised, policing the bad guys and letting us have our say on things, even if sometimes we don’t all agree and end up having a bit of strong debate. Thanks to all the regulars for contributing their views and articles, and of course thanks to my dear sis Kattaddorra for her input, articles and posters. It’s a good club to be a member of 🙂

  7. I love it!
lol I always felt you were a handsome chap Micheal, just look at that smile lol
I love PoC and wish I had more time to spend here and I sometimes wish I could write something but I can’t think up ideas so I think well at least commenting is better than doing nothing.
I hope PoC is around forever helping cats everywhere.

  8. Thanks for the big hurrah to Michael, Ruth. He deserves it, as do the folk like you who reach out. Sometimes the rancor is too much for me, but all in all, I’m not sure there is a more comprehensive, organized and easy to navigate websit as PoC. I happened onto it the first week Bigfoot moved in. Three more cats and four years later, I’m still here.

I think it takes more than we know to keep up the tidy website, keep out the hooligans and inform the masses. I’ve never noticed a moment where Michael wanted to throw in the towel.

    Thank Michael and Ruth.

    • Thanks dw. I am sorry for the rancor and arguments. I don’t want them but being a former solicitor I am up for an argument that fights against ignorance and hostility towards the cat. There is, truly, quite a lot of bad blood out there. Some of it comes to PoC. I need to argue with them and hope that some see the light.

I will never run from a fight when it comes to cat and animal welfare. Please stick around because there is some fun too, as you know, and 90% of the content is calm and quiet.

      • I just thought a thank you to our esteemed webmaster would be nice.
I like to see idiots and bigots put in their place by Michael and the regulars, especially when the attacks they make are unjustifie. I’ll never forget the spite and abusive comments over Barbara winning the Christmas compo fair and square. They picked on the wrong one there! I love it when the regulars justifiably stick up for each other against the bullies and I love Marc’s colourful and passionate comments lol

        • We stick together, don’t we? Strength in numbers backed up with passion and reason. A bastion of rational thought and truth. Thanks Ruth for your generosity but PoC is about the regulars as much as me and the cats take center stage of course.

  9. Thanks very much Ruth. You know, the key, as you say, is about “cat lovers united”. We are all concerned about cat welfare. Our small differences on some matters don’t matter. At the centre, we are the same. That creates strength. We need strength to present our message to the world – and PoC is truly international. The message is that we need to respect the cat, domestic, feral and wild and learn excellence in cat caretaking and welfare.

It is the regular visitors who are the heart and soul of PoC. People like you. Your words are a bright light of decency and reason amongst the mass of distorted ideas and cat abuse, either major or minor.

We are a club and I hope with all my heart that we can stay together. Let us go on to spread the word of respect for the domestic cat. Let’s see off the Woodsmen types and hope that we can contribute even an infinitesimal amount to improvements in cat welfare.
