Presidents Putin and Bush should avoid cat art! — 12 Comments

    • Great comment Rudolph. Thanks. Perhaps President Bush thought “India” was a name for a person and had no idea it was a country 😉 “India” is used as a female human name as I recall. Quite a nice name.

      • Michael, thanks to INTERNET GOOGLE” and “WIKEPEDIA” that i found the answer to President George.Bush naming his cat “India”. In fact there was a protest in my Country about a cat being named after a Country. Read about it on this link to wikepedia on “Teachers Day”. :-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_(cat)

  1. Thanks to the miracle of the Internet I just looked it up and actually it was the Clintons who had Socks. Socks did pass away in 2009. The Clintons gave socks to former Clinton secretary Betty Currie and her husband because of conflicts with the Clinton’s new dog, Buddy. That kind of sucks that even though Socks was with them first, he got the boot in favor of Buddy. So President Bush was probably not painting Socks, but you never know.

    • I hate it when people get a dog and if it doesn’t get along with the resident cat it’s the cat who has to go!
It’s that ‘cats are second class citizens’ thing again 🙁

  2. President Bush’s cat painting is better than I could do! I thought he had a cat named Socks while he was in the White House, and it looked like this cat he painted. He might have been painting his own cat, which may not still be with him, although cats can live a long time… Does anyone remember if the Bush’s had a cat? President Clinton had a black dog. I’m pretty sure the Bush’s had a black and white cat named Socks. I also think I remember hearing that it had passed away awhile back, but I could be wrong.

The same for me too — maybe. I am not bad at painting and drawing but…..I don’t have any evidence of that 😉

    • Yes. I seem to recall that he had a solid black cat named India. She died somewhere around 2008-2009 at 18 years old.
His painting is better than I could do too. But, I would have expected it to be better considering he has had an art teacher for quite some time.

  3. I like to see men drawing and painting cats even if they are not very good at it lol
Hopefully gone are the days of my late father’s generation when it was considered unmanly to be kind to cats.
