A mother cat saved the life of her sick kitten by dropping it off at the home of someone who could help

A mother cat saved the life of her sick kitten by dropping it off at the home of someone who could help. This happy ending story began a week or so ago when a community cat showed up at a home, dropped her kitten in the yard then left. She didn’t return…

Love Meow first told the heartwarming tale or a sick kitten currently under the care of Chatons Orphelins Montréal who will be up for adoption in the near future.

The kitten, now named Unna, was first taken to Hôpital Vétérinaire Journet then placed with the local rescue Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a volunteer group of host families that takes in and then places homeless cats.

It’s believed Unna was in so much pain from her eye that she most likely scratched out her own eyeball. The socket will be sewed up once she’s healthy enough to undergo surgery. She’s on pain medication and thriving under the care of a foster named Marie, who is working to acclimate Unna to people.

Wherever Marie goes, Unna goes with her in a kangaroo-type pouch. People who see the duo are encouraged to socialize with the little kitten. It only took a few days for Unna to go from being a shy, scared kitten to being a playful girl who enjoys belly rubs.

Marie describes Unna as a normal kitten with one eye who should be ready for surgery, recovery and then a forever home in about three weeks.

We’ll never know whether Unna’s mother knew what she was doing when she dropped her sick and starving kitten off that day. I like to think a cat has a ‘sixth sense’ and knows where to find help when needed. Without her quick feline thinking, Unna likely would have died alone and in pain.
