A Totally Black Cat

Charlie's black gums
One of my two female cats is totally black. Her name is Charcoal, nicknamed Charlie. I believe she is an American Shorthair but I got her from a shelter at age 18 months and do not know her pedigree.
Not only is her fur black, without a single white hair, but her whiskers, nose, and paw pads are black. Even her gums are black. Is it rare for a cat to be so totally black?
In very bright sunlight her undercoat is slightly brownish, which gives her a charcoal hue, thus her name. And bright sunlight will reveal subtle variations in hue indicating an underlying tabby pattern.

Hi George... thanks for visiting and sharing. I think it is rare for a cat to be completely black as you describe.
I like your photographs too. If you email me larger format versions I might be able to use them on a page.
