This is a happy ending rescue story about a Georgetown, Kentucky resident named Mark and how he was miraculously in the right place at the right time to rescue five sick and elderly cats.
The June 25 Facebook post on Annie and Mark’s wall read
“Mark took a wrong turn on his way to the Pavilion today and “found” FIVE sick & elderly domestic cats, left beside a dumpster. Had the snowman sheet not blown off, he never would have seen the carriers or the cats.”
The story caught my eye and I decided it would make a good article about chance meetings that give us the opportunity to save a life. We read about this daily. How a Good Samaritan happens to be in the right place at the right time. Whether you believe in divine intervention or fate, some force is making sure things are done to ensure certain people are in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.
I messaged Mark and Annie to see how they felt about Mark being led to the cats
‘Chance’ only took him to the right place; It was his heart that made him pull over when he saw them. I wonder how many others saw them, but kept driving?
I wish more Humans would make the right choices when given the ‘chance.'”
The cats are all doing well and are currently in the care of Scott County Animal Shelter. Some are very fragile, elderly and/or have cataracts/blindness. Vaccines and health tests are still in process. Two of the five have already been spoken for! Three of the cats as well as all the other cats and dogs in the shelter still need loving forever homes.
Anyone with information on the abandoned cats is asked to contact the Georgetown, Kentuck Police Department. The cats were abandoned by a dumpster near Cattleman’s in Georgetown.
The shelter stated the carriers had so much urine and feces in them that it’s believed the cats had been in them for a few days. What makes this story even more tragic is the shelter is only two minutes down the road from the dump site.

OMC. My heart breaks looking at these pictures. What subhuman could be cruel enough to abandon five senior kitties, some that are blind and/or frail, with no food or water, in this summer heat? Yes, I call this divine intervention. Thank you so much to Mark for caring enough to rescue these five precious souls. Karma…whoever did this will reap what they sow.😱😭
