This is an elegant cat breed with a shimmering coat. The coat is agouti ticked.
It is this agouti ticked coat which distinguishes this tabby cat from all other tabby cats.
Although all cats stand on their toes (digitigrades) , the breed standard for the Abyssinian states that “this cats should stand on tip toes” (Gloria Stephens a show judge). This heightens elegance.
The Abyssinian has one of the more colourful histories of all the cat breeds and one of the longest. You will find some interesting stories about the origin of this cat breed.
