‘Keeping up the the Kattarshians’ is a new “reality” series where viewers can follow five kittens who are living in an oversized doll house. It’s streamed live from Icelandic broadcaster Nutiminn.
The main characters on the live webcam series are a litter of kittens. Their Facebook page describes best how this reality show, which quickly skyrocketed in cat-world ratings, came to be.
“Shortly before Christmas last year, a lovely one-year-old feline was found wandering the streets of Reykjavík. The cat, a female, was brought to Kattholt, a shelter for lost, abandoned or homeless cats, where she received tender, loving care and a roof over her head. At her arrival, Kattholt’s staff discovered that she was pregnant and would soon be giving birth to five kittens. Kattholt sought to find the cat a temporary home where she could give birth to her kittens and raise them in quiet and safe surroundings during the first weeks of their lives.”
The mother will stay with Kattholt until she finds a forever home, but the kittens will remain the stars of the cutest reality series in the world. As for Hekla, Katla, Vigdís, Bubbi and Por, they spend their days (and nights) cuddling, playing and sleeping in separate little beds (how DO they get coaxed into doing that).
The project is done in full cooperation with Kattholt and with the knowledge and supervision of the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority and district veterinary officials. The kittens have an amazing life, all caught on camera. Fans have gone so far as to run their live feed in a corner of their personal computers and to use various photos from the Keeping up with the Kattarshians Facebook page as their computer “wallpaper.”
Please take a moment to check out their site. It’s absolutely adorable!
Kattholt isn’t the only live feed of cats on the internet. If you have a live feed of YOUR cat family, please feel free to post a link in the comment section.

A continuous “series” of kittens playing. Life is perfect!
I was happy to catch that screenshot for the article.
This is a pretty cute idea. I like the fact that the cats are rescue cats. The Nordic countries are very well organised and are rated as good places to live. When I first read the title I thought that there was a typographical error! But I quickly realised…
Cute-Our kittens had a baby bed. ‘MaMa-Theo’ would climb in from a pet stairway to feed & groom all five of them. So sweet***
