Angels travel to Rainbow Bridge

Angels at Rainbow Bridge

Our mama is a very young kitty, no more then a kitten herself. People adopted her for their young daughter. We heard they had a boy kitty there too. Our poor young mama soon had us in her belly. So, the humans got very angry and took our mama for a long drive in the country. In the country they put our mama beside the old road in a box and left. Poor mama was so scared and lonely. Some very friendly cats came along and told our mama of a nice place with food and shelter.

She decided to follow and finally found her way to Mama Jan's place. She tried and tried to get our mama to trust her. She fed mama and pet her but mama didn't trust humans any longer.

When it was time for us to arrive our mama went and hid in a old dead log away from safety and gave birth to us.

She was so frightened. She had never had babies before and didn't really know what to expect or do.

Finally we were born. Three of us to our tiny mama. She nursed us and did her best to protect us. Sadly,a big mean tom chased our mama away and attacked us. We were too young and defenseless to survive and mama couldn't help us any more.

Now... we are forever protected and always loved and in God's hands now. We know our mama will be fine cause she will soon go to the doctor person so she can get well and have no more babies.

Maybe our sad story will make humans realize the importance and responsibility of having their own pets spayed and neutered.

We'll play in the sunshine here and not worry about bad things any more. And we will pray for all the new babies born that they are safe and get good homes. Mama knows we are at peace here and she will be happy once again soon.

Mar 27, 2010 A saddening end
by: Finn Frode, Denmark

Hi Jan. How sad that is! I just posted a comment to your 'Bella the Babysitter', but this reminds us that life is not always sunny.
When I was a boy my favourite tabby Alice lost her only kitten this way - actually her own sister was the killer, so no shared motherhood in their case.
With lions infanticide happens in order for a new male to promote his own genes, but the ways of cats are mysterious and we humans will probably never understand the rules of their game fully. It is however a very saddening end.

Mar 26, 2010 made me cry also

This story made me cry also. Humans are so cruel. Now that spring has broke all of our feral strays are coming back. Where were they all winter?? I have no idea. But now we have a calico lady who is flighty but has gotten used to me a little so she actually let me pet her the other day. I pray she is fixed but I dont know.

Jan, so very sad, I too cried when I read your story, although at least she is now in your responsible loving hands.

There are some cruel, ignorant, stupid people in the world and it just seems to be getting worse. I just want to slap some sense into them.

I rescued a cat and some kittens a couple of weeks ago from a neighbour of someone I know. They had a Tom and a female and wanted them to have kittens.

When they were 3 weeks old they declared 'they were fluffy and naughty' and they didnt want them anymore. Their neighbour bought them to me and I took them to the Cats Protection League vet where she tested negative for Aids etc.

On examining mom the vets told me that her bladder and bowel were dangerously full. Turns out her owners were locking her outside whenever she went out to toilet herself. when she came to us she was so scared we would do the same and she couldn't get to her babies she held herself to the point of unbelievable discomfort.

When she got to her pen with her babies and realised she was safe thats when she went, and boy did she go! Everywhere! She may now need an operation because of this but the CPL are brilliant and will do whatever's best for her and her kittens (who by the way are doing really well)

Like I say stupidity. You wouldn't separate a woman from her baby so why any other animal?

Education is whats required.

The CPL welfare officer has since been to see these people to (hopefully) make them see sense.

To Jan and everyone who has and still does help cats, thank god they have you. I think we know how much each time they need us each and every time they look in our eyes and say thank you.

Mar 24, 2010 So sad but a lesson learned

This story was so very sad - it brought tears the 1st time reading. That's why it's so important that people don't just abandon their animals. Just look at the sorrow from this tragic tale. Nice to know the Rainbow Bridge has welcomed all with open arms to play forever without harm.

When I read this I feel very sad and that the world is not a very pleasant place. I know that is negative etc. but it is the way I feel nonetheless.
