This is not a boast. I am being factual. My anger at the great need to improve animal welfare across the planet in all aspects of the human-animal relationship has motivated me for 17 years in running this website. Without this underlying anger I would have stopped 15 years ago when I was offered £110,000 to sell the site, which was then the top cat website in the world. That is a boast! 😎😃
But I wanted to keep going as it is good for me to dissipate some of that anger. The website is an outlet for the anger. It is healthy for me to run it. And I feel sure that I have improved animal welfare over the years in a minor way.
Put it this way: I have contributed to improving animal welfare. This is all I can ask. To try and improve the world in some way and for me that means improving animal welfare as I love animals.
For me it is not just about domestic cats. Of course, I love cats but also dogs and all the wild animals. And I love cows and pigs.
My anger mostly emerges when discussing sport hunting; a pastime that I find revolting. It is so out of step with modern life and values.
There was a time when humankind was more ignorant than it is now when sport hunting was considered perfectly acceptable.
Humankind should have moved on over the intervening 100+ years and learned its lessons that killing animals for human pleasure causing enormous pain and distress is entirely immoral and unacceptable.
The more so today because wild animals are almost universally under threat of diminishing population numbers and sometimes extinction in the wild because of human pressures both direct and indirect e.g., global warming which is very destructive of nature.
But humankind is a slow learner and inherently the world’s top predator. It is instinctive for some humans to kill for pleasure. It is a throwback to the behaviour of early humans when hunting for food was the only way to survive.
Some modern humans have cavemen mentalities. Will they ever grow up? 🙏

I could go on and on for pages but it would be boring. And, you know, very few people are interested.
Here’s a shocking piece of information: on this website the single most visited page of all the 26,000 (by far) is one in which Luka Magnotta suffocates two kittens to death in a plastic bag. He made a video of it and became famous for this and later on in murdering a man.
The pages which are the most interesting to visitors are ones depicting violence against animals. There is something wrong with humanity. There is something black at the heart of humankind. This black stain on humankind will probably end up destroying us.
There is an argument that goes like this: humans hate themselves for what they are and they are achieving this through global warming and general mass pollution including plastic pollution which is so pervasive.
We want to destroy the planet that sustains us to destroy ourselves. You see humans are self-aware. We can observe ourselves objectively and assess ourselves. At least some of us can.
And when observed objectively and when humankind is taken as a whole, it is an unpleasant vision. Today’s absurd wars in Israel and Ukraine highlight my point. It is total madness. But supported by China and India (India supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in an act of gross immorality).
And other countries are ambivalent about these unnecessary wars. Ambivalent! Where is the morality? You see I am angry. And don’t forget animals are dying faster than humans in these blasted wars.
Anger can be good. It provides an indefinite amount of fuel to motivate. The fire never goes out.
