  1. Let it be known, she also collects a disability check and child support for her small child. Sadly, her daughter’s cat was also dumped with the rest.

  2. I had this done to me. My neighbor Kay Doney called the authorities about my cats. I was having emergency surgery at the time after being very ill at home for three days. My kitties are well taken care of and all are spayed and neutered. My furbabies were shot and turned loose to starve. Some came home three months later skinny and sick. They g o t away with this but not again. Now I won’t even go to the hospital if I need to. I have to protect my animals and I will.

  3. One way to help avoid tragedies like this and the Westberry incident is to STOP donating to people you only know from Facebook. If you can’t personally drive to a rescue and meet the people running it,on a regular basis and observe where cats are housed, don’t send them money. Licensing and 501’s mean squat.

Don’t fall for those pull at the heartstrings posts on Facebook or pleas for cats from people you don’t know, people who can truly be anyone they choose to be on the internet.

Taking the word of other Facebook people vouching for rescues or people that they have never met in person is hardly a personal reference.

Especially Beware of people or rescues pulling cats from out other areas no where near where they are located.
These scams are still out there.
Hundreds of cats have been and are still being pulled and dumped in the woods and elsewhere by a few unscrupulous and yet licensed rescues in Georgia. Many people donate for this unknowingly and the donations pay for personal gains such as new car payments and fancy meals out. House cats fending for themselves outside alone is often acdeath sentence.

Don’t let your kind heart be stolen.
Find a local shelter or rescue near to you to donate to and where you can personally go and see what goes on.
Buyer beware. Lives are depending on donors to know who they are really donating to

    • Thanks for your excellent comment, Cher. I’m going to use your comment as the backbone of an article which I’ll prepare and publish today.

    • I do so wish that more people realized that “Licensing and 501’s mean squat.” Some below-the-radar rescuers take excellent care of their animals.

  4. After years of being in cat rescue I find some things never change. Laws or new laws are worth nothing unless enforced. Hoarders don’t stop- they move. Then quickly make friends with another vet or local Animal Control while hiding the truth. Even when cases such as this or others are brought to court there may be a fine. The judge may order the people to not have pets for 2 yrs. It is never enforced. Within months they are getting more dogs and cats, probably in another state. And it begins again.
    Sadly the animals pay.

  5. An unspeakable outrage. They must be punished to the full extent of the law. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I have taken action and I hope that my Facebook cat loving friends will also.

  6. I have paid hundreds of dollars to vets and shelters on her behalf. She did a posting asking for help. When I offered to help, she had me call either the vet or the shelter directly. That’s what made her seem legit. This makes me sick, the fact that I helped her pull theses poor cats. She even gave me a sob story about the car she uses to rescue them broke and I sent her personally 200.00. She text me around Christmas telling me “she had no money for her baby girl for Christmas and could I help her” I didn’t reply and haven’t heard from her since. I knew her as Tamara Lazaro it wasn’t until I sent her the cashiers check for her car did she say make it payable to Tamara Perez Lazaro.

I also remember her saying something about her Facebook page being down or taken down and I said why would that happen and she said “haters”. I didn’t understand that. I wish I would have been more suspicious. Her not asking for the money directly made it feel more legit. I’m sick about this.

This just breaks my heart that I could have had a hand in helping someone I thought was helping cats and wasn’t. I’m so sorry.

  7. This must be one of the very first TNR/RTF cats you’ve ever seen that died from their loving and humane TNR-Attrition, I guess.

    • These were housecats who likely never lived outside. Ferals are taught by the colony to hunt. These cats had no clue how to survive. Big difference.

      • Exactly. That’s the whole force behind the RTF that is being promoted by all TNR groups. It is better to “pull” a cat from a shelter that is about to be killed and let it roam free, in the hopes that it will find its owner again. Rather than having it killed just because the owner could, or didn’t want to, find it. I thought you knew all about all the various aspects of the TNR movement.

      • Since you’re such an expert in these matters, maybe you can clarify something for me.

Why is okay for cats that weren’t owned to die this way, but cats that used to be owned then it’s not okay? What fine-line have you drawn in your mind where one is okay and the other is not?

What in your mind makes one worse than the other? ALL TNR and RTF (previously owned, pulled from shelters to avoid euthanizing, and re-dumped) cats eventually die the way this one did, previously owned or not. Are you just now getting to see the tip of the iceberg of how many cats you have condemned to a torturous death from your promoting and applauding TNR?

          • So, if they have claws then it’s okay if they die this way. Did I get that right? Clawed cats that are abandoned, whether by TNR or RTF practices, all die this way too.

I’m still waiting for why one cat dying this way is humane, legal, and perfectly acceptable if you practice TNR or RTF; and another dying this way is an inhumane criminal-act of animal-abuse if they are not part of a TNR or RTF group.

            Please explain. Nobody has yet.

          • If you don’t want a mirror held-up to your values and how you are torturing to death millions and millions of TNR and RTF cats with your lack of values, then don’t parade the results of your actions on the internet.

There’s a very good reason that the bulk of humanity decided that a HUMANE death in a vets office is far far better than this. But no, you think you know better.

Well, now you get to see why unwanted cats are given a peaceful death, instead of what you are condemning them too with your “out of sight, out of mind” hopes and prayers that you never get to see how you all your TNR and RTF cats die horrible deaths.

Enjoy the fruits of your beliefs and actions. This article is just one of MILLIONS of cats that died that way — because of YOU and ANYONE LIKE YOU.

            • TNR cats are feral or community cats that can generally survive very well and also help with rodent control. Dumped, declawed pet cats, not so much. Judging by the sophistication of your writing, i think you must be able to grasp the difference and are just being deliberately obtuse, are friends with the defendants or are a troll.

            • Your comment is way off the mark. This is a case of cruel cat abandonment including a declawed elderly cat – a crime. TNR concerns able bodied feral cats and is considered to be a humane way of managing population numbers. You know that. You are just stupid troll and you’re banned.

  8. This is all just part of the RTF (Return To Field) programs out there supported and promoted by all TNR and animal-rights groups. They can’t stand to see any cat euthanized so they adopt them from shelters that might put them to sleep and then set them free to live happy outdoor lives–like all cats should have.

I recall a story about a veterinarian who committed suicide from being cyberbullied by these RTF/TNR groups. (Some of those very people replying to this article of yours.) The veterinarian tried to save the life of one of these cats that they dumped outdoors. Then when she wouldn’t give it back to the the TNR group so they could dump it outside again they cyberbullied her to the point that she took her own life. I have links to blogs documenting and proving how it all went down if anyone is interested.

  9. It is so hard to find any words to describe this tragedy for this innocent angel. There are no words to define the depth of heartache this has caused so many of us who would lay down our lives to save the life of an innocent animal. It is my hope that this would be the case that would bring light to the depth of suffering that is happening so often now and strengthen the laws to protect the innocent. I really wish we had legal counsel to challenge the system and also file a landmark case on the impact of abuse to our civil rights. We also should have the right to live free from this type of mental and physical abuse inflicted by these criminals. It is true that we also suffer deep emotional abuse by these people.

  10. If anyone has any additional information that you think the judge needs to know about these two scumbags, the cats, or anything that may be pertinent to the case against them, there is an email address for the Assistant D.A. assigned to the case listed in the petition. Please email your information to him. I spoke with him yesterday via email and he is taking this case very seriously.

  11. I disagree. Everyone who loves cats needs to look at that picture because this is acceptable in most of the westernized world. You can dump a cat out to fend for themselves and this is what happens to most of them. Loving trusting pets betrayed by the humans who just thought that little kitty was so cute. My heart aches. Because many of live in fear of our cats getting lost. Yet these piles of human filth did it without thinking.
Sugar will rest in peace at least her remains will be respected.

    • I do have a happy ending one to write Sunday on another of the cats being found. But this death is a tragedy. She was starving. I truly hope those two heathens go to jail and someone forgets to feed them.

    • I feel the same way Albert. This sort of stuff makes me hate humans to be honest but fortunately there are lots of good people around.

  12. Tamara went to the shelter and adopted these cats from the shelter. Nobody pulled for her that I am aware of. She went on private message and got the money to adopt from good people and then continued to ask these people for money.

    • I’ve seen a screenshot where she listed people whom she says pulled for her. But that’s just what she said and is unproven so I kept it out of the article.

      • No one “pulled” for her. She solicited many good people for pledges and anything else she could squander….I work in Fayetteville and live in Dunn, so I was asked to transport cats she had adopted on numerous occasions. I have transported many cats for lots of rescues, even taking them to rescues 3-4 hours away (and I have never received ONE cent) so I gladly helped. No one knew what she was doing, because in the beginning, I think she did the right thing. The cats she dumped had been extensively vetted (probably at the cost of the good people that donated to her), so how was anyone to know that she was capable of this? I could have never imagined that she was such a vile, disgusting bit*ch! I was like so many and sucked into this perverse scheme! My heart is truly broken, as I met many of these cats at the shelter during my numerous visits and sadly, many of them had other rescues (good ones) that were interested, but Tamara was able to get there first and I am assuming because of the pledge money. All the pledgers should ban together and report her ass…..
