Two Ingham County, Michigan men charged with animal cruelty were arrested then arraigned on Thursday after they drop-kicked a cat back in July then posted the video on social media. The cat was later found dead in a nearby dumpster.
Ingham County Sheriff’s Officer, Michigan State Police US Marshall’s First DIstrict Fugitive team and Ingham County Animal Control worked together to build a case against Brandon Coney, 18 and Kian Miller Jr., 21
Last month the men allegedly found a cat at the LarRoy Froh Apartment Complex in Lansing and posted a video that showed them drop-kicking the cat.
Animal Control received the disturbing video in a tip.
Animal Control was alerted to the abuse by a tip which included the disturbing video. Director Jodi LeBombard stated during an interview with WILX10 News
“I just want to thank everyone involved in solving this case. From the investigating officer, the community members who came forward with information, and the law enforcement agencies that came together to help, we are beyond grateful for the collaboration. This is a great community that takes a strong stance on animals being treated fairly. We do not tolerate cruelty acts to our animals.”
The Lansing men were arraigned on charges of killing and torturing an animal in the second degree, which is punishable up to 7 years in prison and/or $5,00 in fines. Both are due to appear in front of Judge Clarke at 1 p.m. on August 16.
