I’ll get straight to the point. It is completely nuts to ask if cats are psychopaths. The word only applies to humans. I am being serious and perhaps the question is tongue in cheek and a bit of fun but nonetheless I don’t really like it.
The dictionary definition of ‘psychopath’ is ‘a person suffering from chronic mental disorder with abnormal or violent social behaviour’.
Note the word ‘person’. It’s there for a reason. It is a word created by people for people. It describes a form of deviant behaviour, a mental disorder.
Cats are designed for hunting. They kill mercilessly and efficiently. And it is entirely natural without even the merest hint of a mental disorder in sight. Yes, if a human killed like a cat he’d be a top end psychopath. Of course, but cats aren’t humans.
All animals are incapable of being psychopaths or sociopaths. It seems to me that it is only when an animal starts to lose instinctive behaviour and become self-conscious (self-aware) and starts to engage in intellectual thought that the animal – the human animal – has the capacity to become mentally disturbed. The question is in fact an example of anthropomorphisation (assigning human characteristics to animals).
Animals behave instinctively and therefore their behaviour is entirely natural and normal. To think otherwise is nuts.
I have nothing more to say on the matter. And I don’t want to waffle on endlessly just to fill the page for Google’s sake so it gets a good ranking in search engines. That’s nuts too.
Oh for God’s sake! How stupid can people be! Never mind, I answered my own question.
Mine are control freaks 😉
You have a few followers (stalkers)(cat haters) that might fit the bill Michael.
