The police report shows Byron Lee Nosie, 37 was charged with felony animal cruelty for purposely stepping on his mother’s cat and breaking its neck.

Felony animal cruelty in Arizona is described as

“committed by intentionally or knowingly subjecting an animal to cruel mistreatment. Cruel mistreatment is defined as torturing or otherwise inflicting unnecessary serious physical injury on an animal or to kill an animal in a manner that causes protracted suffering to the animal.”

The argument between Nosie and his mother started Thursday and lasted into the night when the mother heard a loud thump outside the home. Her son was outside screaming “I hate you.”

The mother knew something had been thrown against her home and found the bloody body of her dead cat when she went outside.

Witnesses Teresa Origas and her daughter told AZ Family news media

“At first I heard somebody yelling. A man yelling. After a while, we thought we heard a cat screaming. The black cat was dead right there. It had white foam at the mouth and it was bleeding. Why the animals? It’s really sad. They can’t defend themselves.”

Nosie has admitted to killing the cat because he was upset about having to pay for everything at home. He previously hurt his brother’s dog by stabbing in, according to the police report.

A court appearance is set for November 1 at 8:30 a.m. For now, we have an animal abuser/killer back on the streets. No one answered the door at his home when AZ Family knocked for an interview.

Rest in peace, kitty. Nosie will likely get off with a slap on the wrist (most likely a fine). Information needed to contact the Glendale, Arizona District Attorney’s office can be found here.

  1. Only when he attacks a human will he be put away in prison.

    Only a matter o f time.

I see no difference between violence abuse to other species, or to humans.

Whoever granted him bail/paid the bond, needs a serious lesson in morality.
