On December the 1st 2009, my significant other of 27 yrs passed. I became lonely and very depressed. I wanted company to love but my age (79 year) gave me worries as to keeping a kitten.
I made a breed search and subsequently a breeder search which led me to a breeder who had a 6 yr old spayed female. After 2 weeks negotiation and a 300 mile round trip I adopted a tortoiseshell, European Burmese.
She follows me everywhere and waits under the bathroom sink while I shower. She is constantly on my lap and sleeps in the crook of my arm.
She head butts me and noses my forehead. She loves to retrieve things. Her favorite object is the ring from a half gallon milk carton.
Sioux “Soo” is a joy to behold in my life.
And oh!..she loves for me to have visitors..

From At 79 years of age I found love again in my Burmese cat to Burmese cat breeders
Hi Rod. I can relate to your story because I also lost my spouse after 42 years of marriage and my husband I had taken in a stray Burmese cat 10 years ago. She absolutely adored my husband, followed him everywhere and loved to cuddle up and sleep with him. She has also given me much joy but especially now while I’m learning to live without my husband. I wouldn’t part with her for anything. I’m glad you found a new friend in your cat. They don’t ask for much and give back tenfold. Enjoy your cat and be happy!
Thanks for sharing Joan.
