Average Maximum Weights of Wild Cats by Region

The average maximum weights of wildcats by region (three major regions) is shown below in an interactive chart. As can be seen, the “odd zone out” is South America. There is a greater number of small wild cat species in South America. Is this because South America is home to the world’s largest rainforests, the Amazonian rainforests and that smaller wild cats are more suited to forest dwelling?
