Justin Bieber has slammed PETA for criticising him over buying 2 wildcat hybrid cats. Justin Bieber’s purchase of two very expensive high filial Savannah cats (wildcat hybrids) caught a lot of global social media attention and has gone generally viral in online news media as well.
I made the point that he should or could have adopted rescue cats and set an example but instead, as PETA state, he has encouraged the purchase of fancy purebred cats over rescue cats that need homes.
PETA’s statement:
“Justin Bieber could inspire his fans around the world to save a life by adopting a cat from a local animal shelter — rather than fueling the dangerous demand for hybrid cats, contributing to the animal overpopulation crisis, and proving that when it comes to helping animals, his stance so far is ‘I don’t care.”
In response Bieber has slammed PETA and demanded that they leave him alone and focus on topics such as the oceans polluted with plastic, animal abuse and poaching.
JUSTIN’S RESPONSE IN WORDS:
“PETA go focus on real problems. Like poaching, and animal brutality. Ur tripping because I want a specific kind of cat? U weren’t tripping when I got my dog Oscar and he wasn’t a rescue…every pet we get must be a rescue. I believe in adopting rescues but also think there are preferences and that’s what breeders are for. PETA go help with all of the plastic in the ocean and leave my beautiful cats alone.”
JUSTIN’S RESPONSE IN PICTURES:
Bieber wants people to start following his cats’ Instagram page. They are Tuna and Sushi. Was one reason why Bieber adopted the cats to create another successful Instagram page? There are many ‘celebrity cat’ Instagram pages. I am sure that they generate quite a bit of money as influencers for pet food and product manufacturers.
I am probably being far too cynical. We know that Bieber likes animals but he has made some poor choices. I remember the monkey he impetuously adopted and lost but perhaps he has changed since then. It appears that he is more adult nowadays.
