There is a green stray cat wandering around the seaside town of Varna in Bulgaria. As the photos indicate the coat is bright green. This looks interesting to many people and some have been theorising on what happened. This is not a hoax and it is not a bit of innocent fun.

We have seen painted cats before and this looks like that. Well it is but it has not happened deliberately and it has not been done by a person.
It is believed the fur has been painted green because the cat sleeps in a garage on top of a pile of synthetic green paint.
Now, this concerns me greatly. This cat must be ingesting the paint. As he sleeps on the paint routinely, he replaces any paint he may have licked off and so the current situation is dire.
Someone should trap him or if he allows simply catch him and take him to a veterinarian where he should be cleaned up professionally probably under sedation or general anesthetic.
If this does not occur within a reasonable time I can see this cat becoming seriously ill and perhaps dying.
It is time to top looking in wonder and time to take action.

Eva, like you it surprises me that people write about this cat as if he is some sort of tourist attraction when he should have been cleaned up ages ago and the garage emptied of paint. What is so hard about that? Sometimes I despair at the human race.
I don’t think Bulgaria is that concerned about the welfare of stray cats. They are not known for eating cats. In general and without being racist or whatever, Eastern European states are not good on cat welfare. They are rather basic places.
Sadly this cat will succumb to ingested paint caused by licking its fur as do all cats. Its a surprise its still alive.
If someone is taking pictures of the poor kitty then someone needs to help it.
Oh, dear god.
I’m a little lost here, because I don’t know if Bulgaria cares at all about animals not meant for consumption.
Or, do they consume? I don’t know anymore.
My world has been blown apart knowing what some people put on dinner platters.
I agree-This poor cat is just trying to keep warm. He will succumb to the ingested paint eventually and may even be suffering now.I do not see any one rushing to his rescue?
He needs to be cleaned and detoxed by a professional veterinarian and assistant.
Someone Help this green cat return to normal Please_We have enough to entertain us.This is very serious for the animal to have to live with.
