Cats don't suffer from claustrophobia

We don’t know but I don’t believe that cats are likely to suffer from claustrophobia. I think it is highly unlikely that they will suffer from this anxiety disorder because it is an irrational fear of confined spaces and cats behave instinctively. I don’t think a cat can be irrational. Although cats will often dislike confined spaces and might give the impression that they are claustrophobic. A traumatised cat in a confined space may dislike confined spaces very badly and that individual cat might be described as suffering from claustrophobia but I’m not sure that clinically is right to describe the cat as claustrophobic under those circumstances. The word is designed to be used people.
