Yes, a staggering 83% of people who viewed the video below said that they liked the video! Lets just digest that, they liked seeing a man with a Canadian accent (apparently) shout very loudly at cats. This is clearly cat abuse; no question about it.
The video is well known and has been seen by well over 2 million people as at December 2010. The sample size is large then. This must reflect the general population. Or does it? Perhaps the type of person watching videos is not your typical person. But I doubt that is the case. They probably are typical of the average young person in North America as most of the audience for this video are probably Americans or Canadians.
The majority of the comments left by the viewers show a quite disgusting attitude towards animal abuse. There are some comments that indicate the person dislikes what is going on but they are totally outnumbered by the crass idiotic comments of the remainder.
Is this what we are up against amongst the general population of younger people in the developed world?
How are we going to stop declawing for example if such a high percentage of people don’t see this video as an abuse of animals. And even those who do recognise it as an abuse of cats still say they like it.
{Please note: sometimes videos are removed at source leaving a black screen here. I have no notice of this – sorry.}
Some example comments:
“best video i ever watched :3”
“I can’t stop laughing!!!!!!”
“I feel bad for laughing hysterically”
“Anyone who thinks this is animal abuse = retarded, imo. He’s just yelling. They won’t die from loud noises. And then the retards like boxman812… How do you even know what he’s like in real life? It’s just a 2 minute vid, probably made to amuse people. He could be a very caring cat-owner for all we know, ffs. “
Here is one supporting the fact that it is animal abuse:
“It’s funny, but it’s cruel to laugh at the cats’ expense.
I wouldn’t like to not be able to move anywhere in my own home without being shouted at.
One day they’ll probably rape HIM.”
I don’t know what the regulars will think of this – as horrified as me I expect. I feel strongly that something has to be done in educating young people to be more sensitive to the needs of animals and cats in particular. And that applies to anywhere in the world I expect.

You have got to be the dumbest person on the Internet. Yelling at animals is not abuse you idiot.
It most definitely is an abuse and yelling at me is also an abuse of me! You are obviously a yeller… 🙂 Cats are frightened by loud noises and if a cat’s owner yells at his cats it is confusing for a cat and creates anxiety and uncertainty. That is a form of cat abuse. I suggest you educate yourself.
