I decided to visit a Chinese social media website to see what is happening on the other side of the world. An alien world to the one we are used to. Chinese websites are very different to those in the West. They have masses of video and images all piled on top of each other. You can translate the page but you are left with a bit of a mess to be honest; barely intelligible. But I believe it is useful to visit Chinese website as it helps us understand their way of thinking and it is different, as we know, from other aspects of life in the West.
This is a downloadable video I found on the weibo.com website. It looks like it was made in China. A farm cat encounters a cow. The cow is inquisitive while the cat is more defensive because of the cows relative enormous size. As the cow moves her head closer the cat decides to take a swipe and bingo the cow rears backwards and slips. It’s a bit of a shame. I hope the cow was unharmed. I don’t really like to see that but the confrontation is interesting.
The underlying problem is not the confrontation per se but the concrete floor which caused the cow to lose her footing. Perhaps they made friends at some time in the future. That’s the more likely outcome of a meeting between a cat and a cow. There are numerous instances of cat befriending cows on farms. The horse-cat relationship is perhaps the best interspecies relation of all; so many barn cats make friends with stabled horses to perk up their lives.
P.S. I don’t know much about farming but I don’t like to see animals tethered as this cow is. Tethering is cruel as far as I am concerned, under any circumstances, if it takes place for a long time which is what is happening here.
