Frank Ancona worked as a courier and in his spare time was the imperial wizard of the Traditional American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. His wife, Malissa Ancona, is a cat hoarder. She is also, allegedly, a fraudster in that she used cat rescue as a means to con money out of people. This is not unusual. She is also a huge drug addict. Her behaviour was erratic. Something was brewing. Something was bound to happen, her neighbours said. Frank and Malissa were heading down the wrong path and they were about to hit the buffers.
Frank’s clothes smelled like cat piss and so did his hair and moustache. The family home was a complete dump. It was littered with an unimaginable amount of mess and detritus. If you know a bit about cat hoarders you will know what I mean. The house was uninhabitable and Frank was complaining about it to friends. He was a decent guy by all accounts despite his white supremacist ideas.
Malissa had acquired an estimated 70 cats. It was so bad that Frank had to sleep on the couch because his bedroom was trashed. I suspect that he could not even get into it.
Malissa and Frank argued a lot. The neighbours heard it. And genuine people involved in genuine animal rescue knew about Malissa and her so-called cat rescue. They began reporting her to the authorities. Some tried to help but they stopped when they realised what a con artist Malissa was. You know how it is: they say that one of their cats needs veterinary care and can they have some money, bla bla bla.
Malissa’s erratic and drug-fuelled behaviour was apparent when she approached the neighbour’s son one day with a story about a suffering cat that needed to be euthanised. Malissa said that the vet’s clinic was closed and then asked the man to kill the cat by wringing her neck. This pretty well sums up Malissa’s attitude towards animal welfare and highlights what a fraudster she is.
On February 9, 2017 Frank went missing. Nobody was surprised. Frank’s son had a gut feeling right then and there that Malissa had done something bad. On the day of Frank’s disappearance Malissa posted an advert on Facebook looking for a new roommate. She had not filed a missing person report. Her excuse was that she thought Frank was leaving her and was seek a divorce.
The police became suspicious and obtained a warrant to search the 1,000 square-foot house during which they found all the evidence they needed to prove that Frank had been shot on the bed in the bedroom. There was blood splatter on the ceiling and blood soaked deep into the mattress. He’d be shot in the head with a 9mm pistol and then a shotgun.
The police interviewed Malissa’s 24-year-old son by a previous relationship, Paul Jinkerson Jr.. They discovered more blood stained evidence at his residence. And there was blood in his car.
To truncate this long story (and this is a very long story) Malissa confessed but stated that Paul Jinkerson, her son, pulled the trigger. Some people say that her early and full confession (she was helpful in finding Frank’s car, Frank and the murder weapons) was a means of pushing much of the blame onto her son to try and reduce her sentence when she is convicted, which must surely happen. She even posted a photo of her alleged accomplice on Facebook at her home to prove he was there.
It is sad to say that Malissa is not only a classic fraudster hoarder but a drug addict and an alleged murderer. She is also a thief because she tried to break into Frank’s safe soon after she allegedly shot him.
Paul Jinkerson Snr. spoke about his former wife Malissa. They were young when they married. Even then she was beginning to lean on prescription pills on the pretext that she had some sort of ailment. He believed that her problems stem from childhood.
Her mother died suddenly after a hysterectomy operation that went wrong when she was four or five years of age. Her father was an alcoholic who abused her. These early experiences probably set her off on the wrong road to drugs, death and damnation.
The local animal rescue community have rescued her rescue cats. Their condition was not too bad apparently.
Another ghastly cat-related story. There have been so many lately! This one provided a useful vocabulary word (new at least to me) — fraudster. I suspect it will come in handy in future.
