I love to see the gentle friendship between a cat and another species of animal. I also like to see friendship and hugs between cats. Domestic cats form real friendships. So do feral cats. It is a product of living in groups. The only other cat that really lives in a group is the lion.
Here is a selection of cat pictures in a gallery of cat hugs and friendship.
If you click on these small square pictures you will be taken to slightly larger full format versions and a short commentary.

I remember the story of the Black bear and the cat in the photo above. They live in a zoo and when seperated they were both extremely and clearly unhappy until put back together again. They live together again now in the zoo and they are both very happy since clearly they need eachother. I read this about a couple months ago and that was the accompanying photo. The Lynx mother and cub makes me sad because they are so beautiful and her kitten is so sweet and I shudder to think of the dangers that they must face. One can only hope they will live out their lives in peace.
Isn’t that a Guinea Pig? Very cute stuff.
I think you could be right Dan. Thanks!
These are wonderful pictures! Here’s a video I happened upon on You Tube of Momma Cat hugging her baby who was having a nightmare. Enjoy!
