According to a Facebook community post by the Murfreesboro, Tennessee Police Department, a rookie officer along with a field training officer recently performed a ‘cat in the hat’ rescue on a kitten stuck on the top of the wheel well of a car.
Rookie Officer Wes Cantrell and Field Training Officer Jessica Hawkins were flagged down by a driver at a bank where they were asked for help removing the kitty. Officer Cantrell used his hat to rescue the cat. After being fostered overnight by a friend the kitten was taken to Rutherford County PAWS on Wednesday.
No information has been made available as to whether the kitten is up for adoption at this time. With the amount of press these Facebook posts generate, this sweetie has a good chance at finding a forever home.
Feel free to contact the shelter at (615) 898-7740 if you’re interested in adopting.
Great rescue story, Officer’s Cantrell and Hawkins. You are both truly Good Samaritan’s and a credit to your community.
