Despite being regarded as an animal loving nation, there is a nasty underbelly, an underclass in the UK amongst which there are cat torturers and killers; or are we importing too many criminals through open EU borders?
The problem is there. These people are amongst us, lurking in the shadows. We know it. It is not so well reported on the internet as cat cruelty cases in the USA.
The main reason is because the USA news media report cat stories more frequently. In Britain the Daily Mail and the Mirror tend to report cat cruelty cases most frequently, in my experience.
There are currently two disturbing stories. One is worse than the other and about as bad as it gets anywhere in the world.
Ipswich – mass cat killer and torturer
A mass cat killer is on the loose. It is all over the news media. More than 100 cats have gone missing. This has happened for a while, as I understand it. That in itself is disturbing because it hints at carelessness from cat owners who should have kept their cats inside when the disappearances began. Perhaps there was a lack of coordination but it looks bad.
Of the 108 cats that have gone missing two have returned and both showed signs of being tortured. One was so bad he had to be euthanized.
Louis Catchpole a resident in the area and the owner of the two tortured cats says:
“I think there is someone who is very, very sick and they are doing this for some kinds of fun. Whoever is behind this needs psychiatric help.”
One of her returning cats was covered in faeces. His whiskers were burnt and his fur had been pulled out.
Apparently there is no trace of the 108 missing cats. They have vanished. Perhaps they have been stolen for the fur trade by people who live in Europe but not the UK. I don’t know. That is a wild guess. The fur trade used to be centred in Switzerland in Europe. Perhaps it still is. Cat fur is used for clothing accessories. There is a lot of what I call abnormal or non-standard crime in the UK these days.
A Facebook page has been created to exchange information. It is called “Stowmarket Missing Cats”.
The local police are working with the RSPCA to solve the crime. Call 0300 1234 999 if you can help.
Cat Killer throws kitten down 40 foot drop
Another disgusting example of cat cruelty by some utterly reprehensible individual has been reported, who if I met him he’d remember it, if he survived.
A 3 month-old tabby kitten was tossed over a fence down a 40 foot drop onto a concrete floor. The kitten was so severely injured he had to be euthanized. An eye witness saw what happened. The property from which the kitten was tossed is at Fir Vale Road, Sheffield.
The kitten had also be neglected (if owned) because he was badly infested with fleas. The RSPCA are investigating. If anyone can help please do so.
