There is a lot that is good about the re-election of Tsai Ing-wen as president of Taiwan by a significant majority. The citizens have given her a mandate to fight for democracy. A Google Image search throws up countless images of the lady cuddling cats. She supports the notion that you can be a strong leader of a country and love cats too. It is unusual because often it is pale, stale and older men who like dogs who lead countries. The montage below sums it up nicely:
And this independent-minded and intelligent lady is standing up to China who want to take over Taiwan. China want to tear up the agreement with Britain over Hong Kong and turn it into a communist satellite state. They have their evil eye on Taiwan with the same objective.
President Tsai Ing-wen election puts a spanner in the works because she has made it clear to the Chinese government that she will resist any attempt by China to annex Taiwan and run it Chinese-style.
China views Taiwan as its own territory. They want it back and by force if necessary. President Tsai Ing-wen is loathed by the Chinese leaders as she defends Taiwan’s liberal, democratic values.
She has the classic mentality of a female cat lover. And I love her for her attitude. It is in complete contrast to the wax works of the Chinese State Council. She is lively, human and sensitive, yet strong. The Chinese president is stiff with a fixed grin. It looks like he’s been wheeled out of Madame Tussauds.
Every-time she is photographed with a cat there is a smile on her face and the faces of people around her. Cats do that; they make you smile. And it is a genuine smile not the painted-on grin of the Chinese president.
