Cat owner coughs and his five cats scram
He finds it really funny that his five cats scram as soon as he coughs. They flee, apparently terrified, to a hiding place. They desperately need to get out of the way because they are fearful. And he has used the fact that the cats are on a hard suface which takes the piss out of them because they slip and slide as they run away. Is that something to be laughing about? Perhaps I’m being too serious? It is one of those supposedly funny cat videos which are not funny. It depends on your attitude of course towards companion animal caregiving. My attitude is to make my cat or cats as calm and as reassured as possible. It is not to exploit them in this way. Clearly in the past this man has frightened his cats like this. This is the most likely reason why they run away as soon as he makes this sound, which is like a cough. In effect he’s trained them to do this. Perhaps I’m being too tough on him. Perhaps the environment is so calm normally that if a sound like a cough is made the cats become disturbed. That’s a possibility but it’s a remote one. What do you think?
