Cat Peeing Because of Excitement — 4 Comments

  1. I have 2 older female cats who love “butt pats”. This evening whilst one, anxious for attention was getting said attention (finally – busy week for momma and daddy), she decided to urinate all over daddy and the couch. She was in the “throes” of butt pats, so perhaps she was overstimulated? I have never heard of such a thing.

  2. Yes it sounds like over excitement to me. When you think about it, Downton has gone through a lot lately, I take it his previous caretaker left him at the Shelter? So he was in there, handled by strangers, then came to you and then his new caretaker to be, came to see him and now he has a new name to get used to. He’s sure to be a bit anxious wondering what it’s all about.
It’s a good thing he’s going to his forever home on Saturday and can settle down permanently (hopefully)although he won’t feel that it is permanent, for a while.
Cats are so much in the power of people, they have to accept what we do with them, they have no say and don’t know we cat lovers do the things we think are best.
People say I want to come back in my next life as a cat, well I don’t, I don’t think they have such a wonderful life as people think they do!

    • I agree, all this moving and disruption is not good. It is quite an insight being a foster carer. Foster caring is good but there are downsides for the cat as is the case for all rescue cats.

He used the litter perfectly except on this occasion. This is what leads me to the excitement idea.
