Cat Rescuer Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty

This is a follow up story about a Middletown, USA cat rescue lady, Lesli Martin, owner of Heart’s Rescue Sanctuary who late last year was charged with six counts of animal cruelty. The verdict has come through and she has been found guilty of five counts of animal cruelty. These are first-degree misdemeanours. The judge found her not guilty of the remaining charge.

I wrote about this lady in December 2016. She is a cat rescuer who got out of her depth and the cats had to be rescued from her at the end of the day.

Rescuing Animals from a Place of Rescue

Her “sanctuary” in the Middletown Shopping Centre was raided on 30th November 2016 after Lesli had been warned several time by the Sheriff’s Office.

Officials seized 28 of the 49 cats at the sanctuary. They were sick and injured. Seven cats (one adult and six kittens) were euthanized because they were too ill as assessed by a veterinarian. These animals formed the core of the reason for the charges against her.

Sentencing is set for September 20, 2017. The maximum sentence is 180 days in jail and a $1000 fine.
