Cat Theo saves life of owner in payback for saving his

Cat saved life of owner by keeping her awake all night

This is a cat story of mutual devotion. In a video (which you can see below) Theo’s owner Charlotte Dixon, expresses her deep love for Theo through her voice and tears because he has heart failure and he won’t be around in 6 months time.

Theo is a Turkish Van type cat. He has the classic Van markings. Charlotte probably won’t know that unless she reads this page. When Theo was a kitten he was seriously ill with a classic cat flu infection and there were fears that he wouldn’t pull through.

With persistence and devotion to her cat, Charlotte stayed up all night and nursed him around the clock feeding him liquidised food with a pipette. He lived to return the favour. About seven years later Charlotte was feeling unwell. She said that she was confused and shaky and went to bed.

Theo and Charlotte – deep mutual devotion

Normally Theo sleeps in her bedroom with her but it seems that his intuition told him to keep her awake and he kept pawing at her face. Perhaps he sensed that Charlotte was seriously ill and wanted to stop her fading away. We know that cats can sometimes sense illness in humans. I am thinking of a cat called Oscar.

Theo kept Charlotte awake and the next morning she had deteriorated to the stage where her mum called an ambulance. The ambulance paramedic believed that she had a blood clot and thought that it may have been vital that she had stayed awake as she probably wouldn’t have woken up.

She spent a week in a high dependency unit at hospital and eventually made a full recovery. The story went viral and Theo became an contender for the Purina Better Together category of the Cats Protection Awards. There are two other contenders. I think he’ll win. He is already a winner as he is loved so dearly by Charlotte.

Update 5th Aug: Charlotte told me that Theo has gone over the rainbow bridge. He died two weeks ago ‘just before he was announced National Cat of the Year at the Cat’s Protection awards on Thursday’. May he rest in peace. Theo was awarded the honour of Cat of the Year posthumously (Purina® Better Together category and overall National Cat of the Year 2018 award winner). What a star.

  1. The author of the best comment will receive an Amazon gift of their choice at Christmas! Please comment as they can add to the article and pass on your valuable experience.
  2. My heart goes out to Charlotte. I pray for both her and Theo. Hopefully she will honor him (after he passes) by giving her love to another needy kitty.

I did and the love I was given in return helped ease my grief.
