This is casual cat cruelty of the most heinous kind in full view of the public, in plain sight, while being filmed.
The video is chilling. There are two men in a launderette. One of them casually picks up a community cat by the scruff of her neck and places her in a dryer, closes the door and hits the start button. They then leave the premises. I stopped the video there.
THE VIDEO HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM YOUTUBE I SUSPECT AS IT NO LONGER PLAYS HERE. SORRY. THE SCREENSHOT ABOVE TELLS THE STORY.
Community cat – launderette cat
You can see that the cat was resting underneath the pink counter next to the tumble dryers. The man in long, dark trousers, picks up the cat and takes her to the dryer. There is no doubt in my mind that this was a community cat. They are common in Asia. They live in and around shops where they are fed by shopkeepers.
“After hitting the ‘start’ button, they both left the premises. Another customer, who came to the laundry at around 10.30am, found the cat dead and the machine splattered with blood….”
The Star online newspaper tell us that others were in the self-service launderette at the time. They must have been aware of it and did nothing and surprisingly one Facebook post published the name and contact number of one of the suspects.
The crime happened in on Sept 13th in Taman Gombak Ria on Tuesday at about 12.30am. Taman Gombak Ria is a suburb of Petaling Jaya which itself is in the environs of the sprawling Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
A second post by The Star tells us that three suspects have been arrested. The third was remanded in prison for four days on Sunday last Oct 7th while two of his friends (perhaps the two we see in the video) pleaded not guilty to the crime. Their names have been published: A. Mohanraj, 41 and S. S. Satthiya, 26.
Animal cruelty in Malaysia falls under the Animal Welfare Act 2015 and Section 34 of the Penal Code.
