Claws Are A Cat’s Defense!

Claws are a cats defense and after reading this story I challenge anyone to disagree with this. The cat in this article protected itself with it’s claws!
This case of cat abuse occurred on Saturday, May 14, 2011 when Lanzro Fernandez of Keansburg, N.J. went on a rampage. What’s really distressing about this case is that Fernandez works at a PetSmart store in Holmdel. You’d think anyone who works around pets would have a love for animals. Apparently not.
His girlfriend returned home on Sunday to find her cat staggering and in horrible shape. Hernandez had drop kicked the cat, whose name was King. She rushed King to the vet where he was euthanized because of the extensive head trauma and other injuries.
A family pet rabbit was also killed by this monster.
Now for the hero in the case. The girlfriend’s cat Cinnamon fought off Fernandez with his CLAWS! It took twenty stitches to sew up this abuser. Hooray for Cinnamon. Imagine what would have happened to this cat if not for his claws! My guess is he’d be dead.
People, do NOT declaw your cats because one day your cat may need them to defend itself. This cat is alive today because it had claws!
After the initial three charges of animal cruelty it was reported that Fernandez and his girlfriend adopted a ten week old kitten from a pet fair at PetSmart where is was employed. On May 5th he called the adoption coordinator and told her he’d hurt the kitten.
The adoption coordination persuaded him to take the injured kitten to the Banfield Animal Hospital (a lot of PetSmart stores have this on site clinic inside the store). The vet determined the injuries on the 10- week-old kitten were so severe it had to be transferred to Lexington Animal Hospital in Clark. It is still hospitalized and recovering from it’s injuries.
Fernandez has been charged with four counts of animal cruelty and will go before the Keansburg Municipal court judge on June 2 at 8:30 a.m. Here’s the information in case anyone wants to drop a line to the Court. Go to the Municipal Court page on the website link listed with their address. It has the judges name and other information

Meanwhile, Lanzro Fernandez has been suspended from PetSmart. The director of public affairs issued a formal statement after his arrest.
“PetSmart is committed to the well being of pets and is undertaking an investigation of these allegations. In the interim, the associate has been suspended,” Mike Mullin, director of public affairs at PetSmart
I think it’s the greatest kind of cowardliness when a grown man (or woman) feels the need to injure a defenseless animal. Or to injure one who fought back using his claws as Cinnamon did.
Cinnamon, you should get an award for your bravery and also for your self defense skills.
Can anyone tell me why a 40 year old man feels the need to do this?
His girlfriend isn’t being charged in the case, but I hope this serves as a getaway call for her to run as fast and as far as she can from this monster. People who abuse animals almost ALWAYS abuse family members.
Comments anyone?
