Confused Cat Thrust Into The Cheese Challenge

This is an internet meme. Yes, people throw a slice of cheese at a baby or in this instance at a cat (good throw by the way). For cats: confusion, a bit of anxiety and uncertainty follows as the video demonstrates. It is funny how these memes develop. They are silly and catchy. I think they must be the product of idle minds 😉 I am being grumpy.

So what do you think about it? Are you like me and think it is a bit silly, a waste of good cheese (if the slice is discarded) and more importantly not very nice for your cat. I know it is not a big deal but it is not nice for a cat to have to suffer this.

The good thing is that typical of all cats this one immediately forgets the slight panic that the cheese challenge imposed on him, when the cheese feel off. He was then curious as to whether it was edible. And it is so I wonder whether he nibbled at it.

Do you remember the meme when people put slices of bread around cats’ heads to resemble a collar having taken out the center of the slice? Same difference. A bit barmy.

For me they are mysterious things. They are meant to be humorous and a bit odd. Someone starts it and others follow and the creator probably hopes that it will go viral. They burn out after several months it seems to me. They have a lifespan that’s for sure.

Wkipedia describes a meme as:

“A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture…”

I have never participated. Have you? They seem to belong to a different generation to me. They belong with today’s youths. They get it and enough it. I look on in slight bewilderment. The cat is bewildered too.
