I believe that a key element in this case is that the Croydon cat killer wants to hurt people psychologically. The cats that he kills are simply vehicles in that process. They are domestic cats wondering outside. He does not kill cats that do not have owners. He’s obviously angry and wants to get back at the world in general. He does not know the owners. The net is closing in on him. He is becoming known in terms of his appearance and voice. It’s about time because he has killed a lot of cats and upset a lot of people.
