Yes, there are clear indications from a video on YouTube and a still photo online, both of which are shown here, that Lenin liked cats.
In the photograph below Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924) leader of the Communist Party and founder of the modern Russian state is shown holding and petting a black-and-white cat. This alone does not confirm that Lenin liked cats but it does give us a clue. Lenin seems relaxed with the cat and he is holding the cat nicely. Everything looks right to be able to say that he liked cats.
The video below supports this assessment. He appears to be with his wife, Nadezhda Krupskaya, and the family cat or one of his cats in the living room talking to someone out of frame. He strokes his cat as does his wife. He looks down at his cat and his facial expression and demeanour tell me that he liked cats.
It is also clear that his wife liked cats. Perhaps she was the driving force behind adopting them. She married him when Lenin was in exile in Siberia. She was allowed to join him on condition that she married him. They met at a discussion group. There is nothing in Wikipedia on Lenin and his wife liking or owning cats.
‘Lenin’ was an alias. His real name was Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov. He served as head of the Soviet Union between 1922 and 1924. Under his administration Russia became a communist state. It was managed by the Russian Communist Party. Lenin was a revolutionary and a political theorist.
P.S. A reddit.com user remarked that there is a story that Lenin did not name his cats because it indicated ownership and he was against this bourgeois concept. There is no evidence to support this, although it is possible.
