Discussion: Those not involved directly with animal rescue may find it shocking to learn that most rescues have an enemy or two

I saw this on Facebook and thought it would be a good topic for discussion.

Those not involved directly with animal rescue may find it shocking to learn that most rescues have an enemy or two. Even the most perfect rescue may get a pussed off (my new word) client after an adoption application is denied.

While you’re at it, meme’s reflecting how you feel about people being bullied in animal rescue are welcome in the moderated comment section. If a photo won’t load, you can email it directly to me at elisablacktaylor@gmail.com or Michael at mjbmeister@gmail.com and we’ll add it for you.

  • Your last paragraph will really setb the cat among the pigeons. You really need to read up on Ingrid Newkirk before you support Peta in any way. There's an excerpt from her bio that will disgust va mentally healthy person.

    • I would love to read that Anne. Can you post a link? PETA wants all feral cats killed. I had it out with them years ago. I'd love to read the bio

  • Nowadays Facebook is used by a lot by animal rescuers - either individuals or as an organisation. The smaller rescues can get involved in some battles with people who don't like them. A lot of insults are bandied around on Facebook. It is unnecessary. There is a lot of passion in animal rescue which can come out in the wrong way sometimes.

The organisation with the most enemies is PETA. They do really valuable work but their policies have garnered many enemies.
