Yes, Stephen King has cats or a cat (or had them) and he also has a dog or dogs based on my research. In other words, he appears to like animals generally. In one photograph I see him with an old-fashioned Siamese cat of the traditional kind. The cat looks elderly. I don’t know when it was taken but it was a long time ago.
Another photograph he is seen happily petting a gray tabby, random-bred cat. I have no idea whether he owns or owned these cats but I suspect that he did. The photographs were taken some time ago and therefore it is certain that the cats have passed. While writing this I have just discovered that the tabby cat might be ‘Clovis’ described as his “beloved cat”. However, please see the caption to the image. This might be a cat actor for the film.
Apparently, in a short story he once said that the biggest division in the world is not between men and women but between those who like cats and those who like dogs. To be fair, I think there are possibly more people who like cats and dogs than there are people who specifically like cats OR dogs. But nobody is counting.
A blog on famous writers and their cats states that Stephen King is a cat person. He has written about cats. In his book Pet Sematary he refers to a zombie cat, Winston Churchill, a.k.a. “Church”.
There is not much more on Stephen King and his cats. I can’t find a picture of an elderly Stephen King with his cat or cats. He is about 75-years-of-age at 2022.
