A search and rescue dog, which appears to be an Alsatian, discovered a calico cat in the rubble of a collapsed building after a 6.6 magnitude earthquake in İzmir Province which is on the west coast of Turkey; the Aegean coast. The cat was trapped under two collapsed floors of a building for 30 hours. The dog’s name is Bob and he is employed by Turkey’s Search and Rescue Association. The rescue teams handed over the cat to her owner after breaking through the wreckage to get her. They named the cat “Umut” which means “Hope” in Turkish.
