The cat tries to eat the alive octopus and dislikes the taste and retreats. The octopus does likewise. The water is not far away. We don’t know why the octopus is where it is. I suspect a fisherman or someone working at a fish processing plant at the docks placed the octopus on the ground to see how the cat would respond.
The cat is lucky the octopus didn’t decide to eat it.
