Domestic cat in deep snow coronavirus face covering

Note that I’ve used the phrase “face covering” to be politically correct! To use the other term “face mask” is less polite apparently. Perhaps ‘face mask’ has connotations of bank robberies and that sort of thing. Although I’m not entirely sure why ‘face coverings’ is more politically correct.

Having got that out of the way, I think this is quite a nice face covering for cat lovers. It is not a surgical grade mask but intended to be used by the public in the normal course of events to minimise the spread of the disease pursuant to government directives!

In the UK, the Centre for Disease Control has recommended the use of cloth facemasks. This particular variety is made from 100% polyester. It includes two woven, elastic loops for a comfortable, one size fits all product. I would expect polyester to be more easy to clean. You can buy products which can disinfect and keep hygienic long-term use facemasks such as this one.

I hope you enjoy the product. We are all desperate for the social distancing and other general regulations to end so that we can get back to a normal life. It occurred to me that wearing a face mask is quite a big deal in terms of social interaction. It’s a bit like the face coverings of Muslim women in that you are not able to see the expressions on the face of the person. This is a barrier to normal social interaction.

There is an advantage, however. You can talk to yourself when in a store or other inside space without anybody noticing. You can mumble away to yourself without giving the impression that you are mad! It sort of makes you a little bit invisible which may suit some people. The barrier to social interaction may have a calming effect to some people because it restricts other people inspecting you or checking you out and judging you.

You can get it on pixels.com. Just search for it. If I link to the website the link will be broken eventually and I don’t want broken links on the site. It costs £9.98. You’d better make it last at that price!
