Double Trouble: a cat cruelly abused in an animal experiment lab

This is a video from PETA’s Twitter feed. I don’t think that I need to add words to be frank. The video is poignant and says it all. How anybody on this planet can support animal experimentation is remarkable and completely beyond my comprehension. There are other ways to do tests these days. It is blatantly obvious to me that it is immoral to experiment like this on animals, in this case a domestic cat, for some off-chance that it may help humans.

Another reason to keep pets inside so someone doesn’t sell your pet to a lab.

If we want to find out about things which may help us medically we must do it without hurting other animals. It is a very sick kind of trade-off that we hurt animals to cure ourselves. The benefit that we might gain is nullified and wiped out by the detriment and hurt we dish out to animals when experimenting upon them.

The only reason why we allow ourselves to do this is because we see animals as lesser beings. We see them as unfeeling creatures that don’t feel pain like we do. It is complete nonsense. We have a right and duty as guardians of the planet to look after other creatures. There is no need for this sort of brutality and cruelty.

Double Trouble has gone over the rainbow bridge. She is in a better place, far away from human nastiness and cruelty. My heart goes out to her spirit. May she rest in peace. May she change the opinion of even one person who thinks that animal testing is acceptable. Perhaps if she can achieve that some good may come out of the horrific amount of suffering she went through and was put through by an anonymous, insensitive, unfeeling scientist paid by some unknown mega-business, perhaps a pharmaceutical company or perhaps one of the large pet food manufacturers. I don’t know what they were testing or why they were testing but it didn’t work as the video tells us.

Truly, shame on all people involved in animal testing. It is so thoroughly uncivilised to do this. Surely we can move on in the 21st-century to stop it. The big businesses engaged in this sort of stuff really have to step up to the plate and change their culture and attitudes. And governments have brushed this stain on humanity under the carpet or washed their hands of it. No doubt politicians are lobbied by big businesses to allow it to happen. There’s too much collusion between big business and politicians resulting in this sort of totally unacceptable behaviour.
