Everyone should care about the welfare of cats like Anna

I’m trying to find out what happened to a female cat called Anna. I’m told that she has spent her for four years of life at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London. Nobody wants to adopt her because she is black and was born with a rare congenital deformity. Her left eyeball was underdeveloped and it caused her pain. The eye was removed by veterinarians at the rescue centre I believe. So she has one eye and a deformity of her upper lip. She was delivered a bad break in life. Anna is not listed at the date of this post as being available for adoption at Battersea on this “MEET THE CATS Ready to be loved” page of their website.

It’s pure bad luck because in the human world people like to possess beautiful things and there is still a lot of superstition regarding black cats. They are the least adoptable of all cats at rescue centres. It is well known. We all know too, that in our hearts we should be concerned about the welfare of cats like Anna. It’s our duty really to ensure that they live decent lives.

I have made an enquiry at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home on their Facebook page about her whereabouts. I don’t know whether she has been adopted which seems unlikely or whether she’s been euthanised which seems possible. I searched the Facebook page without success and they do not have a message facility. I have therefore left a post which may be removed.

I will update you as and when I can. I want to promote this cat to see whether I can help in her adoption. It would be a triumph if it happened. This is not to say that living at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is a bad thing. I am sure that she has been care for beautifully. It is just not a real home which she can call her own.
