Pettiness amongst a Texas voting council resulted in a library cat, “Browser”, being evicted from his home despite having lived in the library for five years to the delight of patrons. The reasons were unsatisfactory and probably compounded by the usual concerns regarding allergies and health and safety, and all that politically correct stuff (see earlier post).
Browser’s eviction became a cause célèbre. There was international support for him. Cat lovers worldwide expressed their displeasure at the council’s decision.
It is pleasing to report that the world has learned that the council have made a U-turn during last Friday’s special meeting. Realistically, this was to be expected. The council decided unanimously that Browser can stay. Council member Jim Ryan said that he had received 1,394 messages during the week from as far afield as Guam and Malaysia arguing for the return of Browser to his home.
Good. You know it makes sense. If there is one place that is particularly suited to a domestic cat other than in a residential home it is the local library. The domestic cat and libraries go together like fish and chips.
Yes. It had to happen.
awesome news
I sort of figured this would be the ultimate outcome.
